Our Story

Little Ready started with a plane trip.

Not a business plan. Just two little kids, two hopeful parents and a simple idea that changed everything.

While we were living overseas, we flew with our twins a handful of times. Whether it was a long-haul flight or a shorter trip, it often felt stressful. We were forever trying to explain things as they happened, while everyone was already tired, overwhelmed and overstimulated.

Before a family holiday to New Zealand, I decided to try something different.

I sketched out a simple social story.

For a few days before we left, we read it together. We talked about checking in, going through security, waiting, boarding the plane, the exciting parts and the boring parts too.

The difference was incredible.

Our kids weren't constantly surprised by what was happening. They'd already asked their questions at home. They knew what to expect, and the whole trip felt calmer for everyone.

Since then, I've seen the same thing over and over again.

Whether it's the dentist, making friends, starting school or trying something completely new, children cope so much better when they feel prepared.

What am I forgetting? What might surprise them? How do I explain this in a way they'll understand?

Then, while sharing one of my first Little Ready prototypes with another mum, she smiled and said:

This is exactly what I needed before we flew with our kids. I was trying to explain everything as it happened.

That conversation made me realise I wasn't the only parent carrying that mental load.

So I created Little Ready.
A simple way to help parents prepare their children for life's new, tricky and wobbly moments through thoughtful stories, conversation and play.
Every kit includes a Story Album, a Story Companion and a Squish Buddy — because children don't just learn by listening. They learn by asking questions, imagining, practising and playing.
I have seven-year-old twins, including one wonderfully neurodivergent child, and I've seen first-hand that preparation helps every child. Sometimes, it can be truly transformative.

My hope is simple.

To help children feel more ready.

To help parents feel more confident.

And to make life's big moments feel just a little less overwhelming for the whole family.

I'm so glad you're here.
